Right? At the time, I was such a baby feminist; I had no vocabulary and didn't even know how to categorize what he was doing. But it definitely felt like negative attention. And trust me: by that point I'd had enough awkward guys sidling up to me, trying to get the nerve to ask me out. I knew what that looked like, and this definitely wasn't it. So grateful to this day to Mrs. Hanlon! She'll never know how important it was to me to feel validated and supported in that moment.
